In 2011 Turnitin brought critical attention to the types of internet sources that students predominantly use, specifically those that disseminate shared or unoriginal content. I graded 8 papers the other night just waiting in the car for my kids to finish their activity. The internet has changed the very meaning of ‘research’,' according to a recently released Pew Research Center study. This page shows how to enable Turnitin in Canvas, how students. Also, there are free Turnitin alternatives that you can use for self-checking your papers. Instructors can enable Turnitin as part of a Canvas Assignment to check for plagiarism.

This even brought in all my unique quick marks to use within the app! The only downside to this is that the auto spelling / grammar check doesn’t work on the iPad, but small price to pay for such a great tool. I’m used to using Turnitin to grade papers, but I knew I’d be offline a lot.
Turnitin does this by comparing a student submission. My students have laptops to turn in their papers. Turnitin is also used to provide the ANU with confidence in the academic integrity of students work. I understand this app isn’t for students, but I’m a teacher and that’s what I expected.
